What is the minimum hourly charge for a man and van near me?+
Most Apex man-and-van jobs start with a 2-hour minimum. Rates typically begin at £45–£55/hr for 1 mover + short-wheelbase van and £65–£80/hr for 2 movers + long-wheelbase van, including fuel, blankets and straps. For anything larger than a small studio we usually recommend a fixed-price quote instead — it works out cheaper and there are no surprises.
Are there extra fees for stairs or long carries?+
No hidden stair fees. If your pickup or drop-off has more than 2 flights of stairs, no lift, or a long carry from the parking bay to the door, we factor that in at the quote stage so the price you're told is the price you pay. Tell us the floor and access when you book.
Will the driver help me load and unload?+
Yes. Every Apex man-and-van booking includes full loading and unloading by trained movers — never a solo driver waiting in the cab. Choose 2 movers if you have heavy furniture, white goods, or third-floor+ access without a lift.
Do I need to book two movers or is one enough?+
One mover is fine for small studio flats, single item pickups (sofa, mattress, wardrobe, IKEA flat-pack) and light student moves. Book two movers for 1-bed flats and up, anything with heavy furniture (sofa beds, American fridges, pianos), or upper-floor addresses without a lift.
